Andersen Closes Deals With E&Y

Chicago (May 17, 2002) -- Rapidly shrinking Big Five firm Andersen this week shed several domestic offices in two deals with Ernst & Young.

Under the first deal, announced Wednesday, six Andersen partners and an undisclosed number of audit and tax professionals from the firm's Nashville office joined E&Y, effective immediately. In addition, 45 Andersen audit and tax professionals, including three partners, in the firm's Louisville office also joined E&Y. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

On Thursday, Andersen said 350 of its audit and tax professionals and 39 partners and principals from its Chesapeake practice, which includes offices in Baltimore and in Richmond and Vienna, Va.; would join Ernst & Young.
