Andersen Merges with Burr Pilger Mayer

California accounting firms Burr Pilger Mayer and Andersen & Co. plan to merge on Jan. 1, 2009.\

The merger will combine BPM's business valuation, litigation support and succession-planning capabilities with Andersen's consulting and compliance practice. Andersen has two offices, $5.8 million in revenue and more than 35 employees. Combined with BPM, the new firm will have almost 400 employees and over $65 million in revenue. BPM ranked 53rd on Accounting Today's 2008 list of the Top 100 Firms.

"We are thrilled to welcome the professionals of Andersen & Company to the BPM team," said BPM managing partner Stephen D. Mayer in a statement. "When our firm looked toward expansion into the North Bay, we knew it would be critical to align ourselves with a top-tier firm with long and established relationships in the market."

The combined firm will have offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto, Walnut Creek, San Jose, Novato and Santa Rosa.
