Anglin CPAs merges in Bloomer Geri

Anglin Reichmann Snellgrove & Armstrong PC, a firm based in Huntsville, Alabama, has added Bloomer, Geri & Co., expanding the firm to Pensacola, Florida, effective September 1.

The merger will allow Anglin CPAs to extend its footprint to Pensacola as part of its strategic growth plan, and add Bloomer Geri’s tax consulting services. Anglin plans to maintain Bloomer Geri’s current office in Pensacola, which will offer tax services, along with audit, assurance, business and IT services.

Practice advisor Gary Adamson consulted with Bloomer Geri on a transition plan and recommended the firm explore various potential sale or merger options, ultimately determining that Anglin was the best match for its transition goals.

“Anglin offers the expanded services our clients were asking for,” said Bloomer Geri managing partner Donna Bloomer in a statement. “Their culture and fee structure are very similar to ours. We are also on the same page regarding transition of clients and my role in the upcoming years. I am excited about the future for our team and clients in Pensacola.”

Bloomer plans to stay in her position as firm managing partner during the transition, but anticipates retiring with the option of a part-time consulting position within the next five to 10 years. Owner and operations executive manager Jeanette Geri is likely to retire earlier than Bloomer, while Steve Schickel will remain a partner based in Pensacola.

The combined firm will have a total of 12 partners, three of which are from Bloomer Geri, and a total of 75 employees, 17 of them from Bloomer Geri. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Anglin CPAs managing partner Gary Anglin sees the Pensacola area as an emerging growth market. “We see many opportunities for a presence in Pensacola, in particular expanding our services in government contracting,” he stated. “We also respect the depth of tax consulting and knowledge that Bloomer, Geri & Co. have developed among their professionals, specifically estate and gift tax consulting. We are looking forward to learning from each other.”

Anglin CPAs was formed in 1990 and has grown to be the largest, locally owned public accounting and business advisory firm in Huntsville, with clients in North Alabama, the Southeast and nationally. Services include audit, assurance, tax advisory, business and IT solutions. The firm is a member of the CPAmerica International association of independent CPA firms.
