App of the Week

There are numerous apps on the market for working with PDF files, but practitioners are increasingly checking out PDF Expert which allows users to read, share, and edit PDF and other types of documents – all from your iPad.

PDF Expert reads iWork, MS Office, Power Point, text files, images, music and video files and can get documents from the desktop, email attachments, Dropbox, SkyDrive, Google Drive and other iPad applications.
Also, forms like client meeting notes or forms for tax returns, can be created in Adobe then users can tab from one field to another and pull it into PDF Expert. As such, you can sit in a meeting, fill in the appropriate data, email the file to myself or others, then clear the form if you need to.

PDF Expert allows users to do “commenting” like text boxes, strike-troughs and other note marks that Adobe doesn’t have, so if you are reading a contract for a client you can highlight and make notes and it stays in that format so when you email myself and pull it up in Acrobat the comments are there too.

Please note that Dynamic XML PDF Forms made with Adobe LifeCycle should be converted to Static PDF Forms format before using with PDF Expert.

The app does require iOS5 or later and costs $9.99 on the Apple App Store.
