Attmore Named New GASB Chair

Norwalk, Conn. (Feb. 13, 2004) -- Robert Attmore, a former deputy state comptroller for New York, has been named chairman of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board effective July 1.

Attmore will succeed Tom Allen, who has served as GASB chair since 1995 and is not eligible for reappointment. Attmore currently serves as president of Attmore & Associates in Albany, N.Y., a provider of consulting services to government agencies. His appointment was made by the Financial Accounting Foundation’s Board of Trustees, which has oversight responsibility for GASB and the Financial Accounting Standards Board.

Attmore served a total of 23 years in various financial posts with New York State. Prior to his stint in government service, Attmore began his career in public accounting with Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
