BDO International Picks Up Firm; AGN Gets New Member

BDO International has announced the addition of a new member firm in Latin America.

BDO Abrahams Raijmann & Partners, located in Paramaribo, Surinam, has joined BDO International with full member firm status, effective immediately. Established in 1951 as an office of the Dutch accounting firm Moret & Limperg, the firm has more than 60 employees today.

"Joining the BDO International network will enable us to align international, innovative and quality solutions with local circumstances," said the firm's managing partner, Rene Abrahams, in a statement. "This relationship will combine the flexible personal characteristics of our local firm with the expertise and strength of one of the largest global players in accounting and professional services."

The combined total fee income of all BDO member firms was $3.3 billion in 2005. The global network has 601 offices in 105 countries.

Separately, Pender Newkirk & Company LLP, based in Tampa, Fla. has been admitted to membership in AGN International Ltd. The firm has a staff of 68.

The 30-year-old firm becomes AGN's 54th North American member firm. Pender Newkirk has 12 shareholders and total staff of 68 in one office in downtown Tampa.

Pender Newkirk specializes in providing accounting and tax services to small publicly held companies, as well as closely-held companies in the manufacturing, distribution, real estate development, professional services and construction industries.

AGN has over 200 accounting and business consulting members around the world, with a combined $1 billion in revenues.
