BDO raises $75K for 2017 National Red Nose Day

Top 6 firm BDO USA recently announced that they raised $75,000 in two weeks as part of this year's National Red Nose Day, held on May 25th. The charity represents an annual fundraising campaign, run by non-profit Comic Relief, dedicated to ending child poverty across the globe.

BDO staff members participated in various charitable acts, ranging from bake sales and casual dress days, to raise donations. The firm’s efforts were also part of their BDO Counts initiative, an ongoing community outreach program that sees the firm’s professionals give back to the communities in which they work.

Wayne Berson, BDO USA's CEO, also issued a challenge to the firm’s office managing partners (OMPs) to set fundraising and agreed to get pied in the face if staff reached their goals. Last week, Berson and other OMPs made good on their promises after BDO's efforts exceeded expectations.

“As a firm, we are very active in community service and charitable causes throughout the year, and National Red Nose Day has become a major part of our fundraising calendar,” stated Berson. "We want to thank all of the managing partners who took on this challenge with such a great sense of humor. Most importantly, we want to thank our professionals for their unbelievable charitable spirit in driving this exceptionally successful initiative to benefit children in need.”

"BDO has been incredible at bringing their employees together in support Red Nose Day – getting creative, having fun and giving back," said Janet Scardino, CEO of Comic Relief, per a statement. "It’s been inspiring to see their engagement and donations grow so exponentially each year. We are so very grateful for the enthusiastic support of their entire team across the country.”
