BKD Expands Risk Management Group

BKD LLP will combine with Houston’s Beacon Alliance LLP, in a merger effective Nov. 1.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Beacon Alliance will bring approximately $2 million in annual revenues and a staff of 13 to BKD -- including founder and managing partner Selina K. Wilbur.

The combined BKD Risk Management & Technologies division will now host 100 personnel, including eight partners, operating from BKD's 27 offices in 11 states.

Beacon provides independent internal audit, and business and technology risk consulting services. The firm has long boasted that one of its strengths is a proprietary software tool that helps improve its understanding, documentation and reporting of internal controls.

Beacon personnel will relocate to BKD's Houston location next week.

Earlier this month, BKD picked up a practice based in Overland Park, Kan. BKD ranked No. 10 on Accounting Today's 2006 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $258 million.
