BKD Picks Up Kansas Firm

Top 10 firm BKD LLP has acquired the Overland Park, Kan.-based practice of Mock & Dakan PC.Financial terms of the deal, which became effective Nov. 1, were not disclosed.

The dozen employees of Mock & Dakan -- including managing partner Stephen L. Mock and partner T. Teal Dakan; eight client service personnel and two administrative professionals -- will moved into the Kansas City offices of BKD in mid-November.  With the addition, the combined BKD Kansas City office will host more than 200 employees, including 30 partners.

In operation since 1988, Mock & Dakan generated approximately $2 million in annual revenues on its own, focusing on serving owner-managed businesses and providing financial services to high net-worth individuals.

 Mock said his firm had found that more and more of its clients were dealing with multi-state and international business issues. The merger will allow his firm to provide those clients with access to specialized expertise. 
 
BKD ranked No. 10 on Accounting Today's 2006 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $258 million.
