Blackbaud Acquires U.K. Donor Solution

Nonprofit software publisher Blackbaud Inc. has acquired ScanStore Ltd., a document management and image retrieval company based in Staplehurst, Kent, U.K. Financial terms were not disclosed.

ScanStore's gift product helps U.K. nonprofits manage the indexing, storage and retrieval of donor declarations that are required to make gift aid claims to Inland Revenue.

Blackbaud said that it would market the ScanStore solution within the U.K. both as a separate offering and as part of its integrated suite of fundraising and gift management solutions. ScanStore will be suitable for both existing users of the company's flagship product Raiser's Edge, and charities using other fundraising systems and databases.

In the U.K., taxpayers may increase the value of their charitable contributions by submitting a gift aid declaration form to the organizations of their choice along with their donations. Under the aid program, the organizations are then entitled to submit requests for payment from Inland Revenue equal to 28 percent of the donations' value. Organizations are required to retain copies of the completed gift aid declaration forms for seven years in the event of an audit.
