Block Back as Super Bowl Advertiser

Kansas City, Mo. (Jan. 30, 2004) -- H&R Block is back for the third year in a row as a Super Bowl advertiser.

As part of Block's strategy to leverage its tax-based advisory relationships by providing financial services to its clients, the company has purchased a 30-second spot that will run during the game's first quarter.

The spot will feature the H&R Block Advantage, which includes a personalized summary that the company says will help clients “understand how to make the most of their tax situation, reduce their debt, plan to buy or refinance a home, start building savings for their retirement, a child’s education or other goals.”

In addition to the Super Bowl spot, Block has agreed to a pre-game sponsorship package. Terms of the media buy were not disclosed.

Last year's ad spotlighted country music legend Willie Nelson's tax troubles and urged taxpayers to avoid bad tax advice by taking Block's Double Check Challenge, a service it offers to review past tax returns for mistakes or overlooked deductions.
