Blytheco Buys Result Data’s SalesLogix Practice

Sage reseller Blytheco made another move to further grow its SalesLogix and overall customer relationship management business with the purchase of the SalesLogix practice of Result Data Consulting Ltd.

Columbus, Ohio-based Result Data specializes in data management and business intelligence systems. The company’s half-dozen SalesLogix clients will now be served from Blytheco’s existing Columbus office.

“Blytheco is able to offer our customers a wide array of CRM-related services and solutions,” said Result Data president Tom Meers. “By having Blytheco assume support for our customers using Sage SalesLogix, Result Data can better focus our resources on providing the best in data management and business intelligence solutions.”

This transaction continues Blytheco’s expansion strategy by acquisition, particularly in the SalesLogix and CRM space where it currently sees the most growth for its business.

“Customers aren’t replacing ERP [systems] and they aren’t growing, as there is no compelling event for them to replace ERP right now,” said Blytheco chief executive Stephen Blythe. “With CRM, as the economy is showing some level of recovery, people are asking, ‘What can I do to drive revenue?’ and CRM is a great tool to do that. We have robust opportunities in this space, and it’s a good way to grow our professional resources, as well as our customer base.”

Blytheco made another acquisition in this space last week, purchasing Denver-based SalesLogix reseller SFA Technology, which has approximately 25 clients (see Blytheco Acquires SFA Technology). While these acquisitions may not be large, Blythe said it is significant and a strategy that will continue throughout the year. Specifically, he expects to purchase “several others” that resell CRM and ERP before the year is out, including an Accpac CRM-based purchase to be announced in the next week or so.

“For a smaller reseller, we take care of all the administrative components, and they can focus on what they got into the business to do in the first place,” said Blythe. “Small VARs are passionate about what they do, but many of them have hit the ceiling and are saying, ‘I don’t like the business aspect, I like doing technology,’ so [working with us] allows them to do that.”

CRM was not always a big focus for Blytheco. Until nearly four years ago, the company was not involved in it. This has changed to the point where CRM, particularly SalesLogix, is a significant component of Blytheco’s entire business, according to vice president of CRM Phil Sim.
