Blytheco Sells Sage 300 Business to BrainSell

Top Sage partner Blytheco has effectively sold its Sage 300 ERP practice to Topsfield, Mass.-based VAR BrainSell Technologies.

As part of the sale, BrainSell will be taking over the Sage 300 practice and its current 35-customer base, with Blytheco still engaged in some marketing and BrainSell conducting sales and implementations.

Blytheco still retains Sage 100 and X3 on the ERP side of the business, and also represents NetSuite for cloud ERP. The firm made the move as it was looking to invest more in other existing product areas, according to Blytheco chief executive Stephen Blythe.

“At the end of last year we sat down and said which one of these products are going to be our strategic products going forward,” said Blythe. “Now with more attention and effort being pushed to X3 we decided to invest more in that product as well and divest 300. We had to look at where we want to invest in the future and for us, we had limited resources and a limited customer base [for Sage 300]. BrainSell was the right choice to handle these accounts.”

Blythe admitted the firm spoke to a few other Sage 300(formerly Accpac ERP) partners and BrainSell showed the most interest in taking over the practice. The firm is a Sage Platinum Partner, and also represents Acumatica, QuickBooks Enterprise, and SugarCRM.

“I am thrilled to be able to extend our services and experience to Blytheco’s Sage 300 customers, we have a great relationship with both Sage and Blytheco and see this as a great opportunity for all participating parties,” said BrainSell president and founder Jim Ward, president and founder of BrainSell Technologies. “BrainSell specializes in Sage 300 ERP accounting solutions. This partnership will extend the available support for Sage 300 products for existing Blytheco customers, while allowing Blytheco to refine its focus on other Sage X3, Sage 100, NetSuite ERP and CRM business solutions.
