Document management provider Cabinet NG has launched a new function that will allow users of any Windows-based business application to integrate with its flagship document management system, CNG-SAFE.
"Retriever" provides an approach for integrating an existing application with documents that have been filed, secured and organized within the CNG-SAFE system. End users are now able to access the documents they need from their main business application without a customized integration.
"What's exciting is that it is breaking a new barrier that the small enterprise was being challenged with," said James True, vice president of business development for Cabinet NG. "They had a need for this integration, but it was out of reach. We kind of drilled in and figured out how to get them what they need."
Once installed and based on the information being viewed, Retriever can pull up associated documents directly from CNG-SAFE without switching from the native application. Retriever also enforces security and controls access to documents based on user rights assigned within the organization.
"It provides a very simple integration with individual control," True said. "Retriever can be integrated more on an individual basis, and business owners can do this themselves."
In addition to the new Retriever feature, Cabinet NG also is launching Synchronizer Add-on, a new background feature that automatically creates and updates folders in CNG-SAFE as they appear in the target applications database. As new clients are added in a customer relationship management or practice management system, a corresponding folder is created in CNG-SAFE.
Synchronization between an application's database and Cabinet NG folders occurs by automatically polling the target database for any new additions or changes, and populating folder index data using the most current database data. The synchronizer can support multiple databases in CNG-SAFE.
Retriever uses patent-pending technology and is included with the latest version of CNG-SAFE. The Synchronizer Add-on is priced at $995 per database.
