Callaway Jettisons KPMG as auditor

   

Carlsbad, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2002) -- Callaway Golf Co. dismissed Big Four firm KPMG as its auditor and said it would appoint rival Deloitte & Touche as its successor.It was the third auditor change for the maker of the Big Bertha style golf clubs over the past year. The dismissal of KPMG stemmed from a dispute over reserves covering product warranties. At issue was a disagreement over where to record a $17-million reduction in the company’s warranty reserve.
