CBiz/MHM acquires firm to expand nonprofit practice

CBiz and Mayer Hoffman McCann PC announced the expansion of its not-for-profit practice through the acquisition of CPA David Brown Jr.'s Minneapolis-area practice.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brown and several of his associates will be located in the downtown Minneapolis office of CBiz and MHM.

Brown's expertise is focused primarily on the not-for-profit market sector, but he also has experience with manufacturing and design, building, and remodeling companies. Additionally, he has experience providing financial statement audits, as well as in internal controls work related to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

The president of the downtown Minneapolis office, Jerry Bremer, said that the acquisition would broaden the firm's capabilities in the Minneapolis region, and that Brown would provide added depth to the firm's nationwide nonprofit focus.

CBiz is closely associated with Mayer Hoffman McCann, and currently has more than 450 not-for-profit clients across the country. The combined firms were ranked No. 10 on Accounting Today's 2006 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $434 million.
