Change of Auditors

AmeriPath Inc. jettisons D&T; names E&Y as successor: Laboratory management concern AmeriPath has dismissed Big Five firm Deloitte & Touche as its external auditor and named rival Ernst & Young as its successor, effective immediately.

According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, AmeriPath said that there were no disagreements between itself and Deloitte and did not disclose a reason for the auditor change.

May Department Stores dumps Andersen: Retail chain May Department Stores has replaced long-time auditor Andersen with Big Five rival Deloitte & Touche, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Andersen had served as auditor for the concern since 1966. May did not report any disagreements with Andersen during the period in which it served as auditor.

Halliburton ends 50-year relationship with AA: Ending a 50-year client-auditor relationship, Halliburton canned Andersen as its 2002 auditor and named Big Five rival KPMG as its successor.

Halliburton’s internal audit committee had unanimously recommended that the company change auditors.

Meanwhile, high-tech concern Innovative Solutions & Support Inc. hired Deloitte & Touche LLP as its external auditor, effective immediately, according to a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Innovative Solutions, is a supplier of flight information computers, electronic displays and monitoring systems. It has dismissed Andersen as its auditor last month.

Identification products manufacturer Paxar Corp. named Big Five firm PricewaterhouseCoopers as its external auditor, effective immediately, according to an 8-K document.

Paxar, which had adopted a plan for auditor rotation every seven years, dismissed Andersen several months ago. Andersen had served as auditor for more than seven years.
