Block Names KPMG: Tax-prep giant H&R Block appointed Big Four firm KPMG as its independent accountant beginning April 30, 2004 - the end of Block’s fiscal year - according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Block said that the choice of auditor would have to be approved by its shareholders at the company’s annual meeting Sept. 10. KPMG succeeds PricewaterhouseCoopers as Block’s auditor.

PwC resigns Rohn: After notifying Rohn Industries about a material weakness in its internal controls, Big Four firm PricewaterhouseCoopers resigned as auditor to the marketer and manufacturer of wireless communications equipment.

A successor has not been named.

The weakness, according to a filing with the SEC, was the resignation of the company’s chief financial officer and the loss of some in-house accountants and financial employees. As a result, PwC indicated that it would not be able to rely on the controls in the audit of Rohn’s 2002 financial statements.

DVI appoints Seidman: Jamison, Pa.-based DVI Inc., an independent health care financier, named national firm BDO Seidman as its independent auditor, replacing Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche, which resigned in June, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.

In June, the SEC told DVI that its third-quarter financials were deficient because the statements weren’t reviewed by an independent auditor.

Deloitte resigns as TTR auditor: TTR Technologies Inc., a designer and marketer of anti-piracy products, said that its auditor, Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche, resigned last month, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing did not disclose a reason for the resignation. TTR hired Woodbury, N.Y.-based based Marcum & Kliegman as its new auditor.
