Change of Auditors: July 26 - August 8, 2004

WESTFIELD WILL NOT REAPPOINT DELOITTE: Westfield Financial Inc., a holding concern for Westfield Bank, did not reappoint Big Four firm Deloitte as its auditor, and instead hired Wolf & Co. PC as its successor.

According to a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, there were no disagreements between the company and Deloitte on any matter of accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedures.

The filing did not state a reason for the auditor change.

E&Y AND COSI PART WAYS: Big Four firm Ernst & Young will leave as auditor for sandwich café operator Cosi Inc., after noting internal control deficiencies.

According to a federal filing, E&Y had advised the restaurateur about its internal controls, but said that it would continue as the company’s auditor until it completes a review of the company’s financials. At press time, New York-based Cosi had not hired a replacement.

Cosi said that it had no disagreements with Ernst & Young on any matter related to accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosures, or auditing scope or procedure.

SIEBEL APPROVES KPMG: Siebel Systems Inc., a San Mateo, Calif.-based provider of software products, said that its shareholders had approved the selection of Big Four firm KPMG as the company’s outside auditor.

Stakeholders also re-elected some four board members and voted against expensing stock options.

SYNTEL AUDITOR DECLINES RE-ELECTION: Big Four firm Ernst & Young declined to stand for re-election as independent accountant to Syntel Inc., an information technology consulting firm.

According to a federal filing, Ernst will continue as Syntel’s auditor through the filing of its next 10-Q.

Syntel said that it had no reportable disagreements with E&Y on matters related to accounting principle or practice, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope or procedure.
