Citrin Cooperman merges in Sharkansky

Citrin Cooperman, a Top 100 Firm based in New York, has extended its footprint in New England by adding Sharkansky LLP, a firm based in Brockton, Massachusetts, effective June 1.

As part of the deal, six partners and more than 25 of Sharkansky’s staff are joining Citrin Cooperman, working out of Citrin’s office in Braintree, Massachusetts. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Citrin Cooperman ranked No. 23 on Accounting Today’s 2018 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $242 million in annual revenue. Before the deal, Citrin had 208 partners and 587 professionals in 10 offices.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity to expand our footprint and add resources in a key market,” said Citrin Cooperman CEO Joel Cooperman in a statement. “The partners and staff of Sharkansky have a sterling reputation for being knowledgeable advisors with excellent client service and will be a great addition to our team.”

Sharkansky dates back to 1963. The firm focuses on advising closely held and privately owned businesses, especially construction, restaurant and hospitality businesses, along with high-net-worth individuals. Sharkansky also has clients in other industries, such as manufacturing, distribution, architecture, engineering and health care.

“We’re very pleased to be joining Citrin Cooperman and working with some of the most talented advisors in the industry,” said Sharkansky managing partner Howard Spiller in a statement. “With Citrin Cooperman, we will be able to retain our entrepreneurial spirit and personalized client service, while gaining the deep bench of resources that only a large firm can provide.”

In January, Citrin merged in Schneider & Associates, a firm based in Bethesda, Maryland.
