Citrin Cooperman to Merge in Two Firms

Regional New York firm Citrin Cooperman said it would merge in Syosset, N.Y.-based Massella & Associates CPA, PLLC, and the SEC Solutions Group LLC effective Jan. 1, 2009.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Corey L. Massella, founder of both Massella & Associates and the SEC Solutions Group, will join Citrin Cooperman as chief executive of the SEC Solutions Group and as a partner of the firm.

The SEC Solutions Group provides consulting services for public companies and companies seeking to go public, helping them comply with Sarbanes-Oxley and financial reporting requirements.

Massella & Associates is a full-service accounting and tax compliance firm with a client base that includes restaurants, real estate firms, and large investment holding companies.

The firms are scheduled to move into Citrin Cooperman’s New York headquarters a week after the close of the merger.

In addition to Massella, two managers, a senior and an administrator will join Citrin.

As a result of the union, Citrin Cooperman, which ranked No. 31 on Accounting Today’s 2008 Top 100 Firms list, will now have 76 partners and annual revenues of roughly $82 million.
