Clifton Gunderson Buys UHY's Arlington Fed Practice

Accounting firm Clifton Gunderson said it has acquired the Arlington, Va., federal government practice of UHY LLP, effective April 1.

The firm said the addition of the UHY practice would help build its own presence in the Washington, D.C., area in the federal government sector. "We are eager to combine their expertise with ours and further build our client base," said Clifton Gunderson CEO Carl George (pictured) in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

UHY partner Roger Von Elm will join Clifton Gunderson as a partner, while all of the other federal government practice professionals at UHY's Arlington office will also join the firm. Most will remain at their current offices, but some will move to Clifton Gunderson's office in Calverton, Md.

Clifton Gunderson, headquartered in Peoria, Ill., now operates in 17 states and the District of Columbia. Its Washington, D.C., offices are part of the firm's Mid-Atlantic Client Service Center. The firm was ranked fourteenth on Accounting Today's 2008 list of the Top 100 Firms with $228 million in revenue.
