Connecticut Accounting Firms Merge

Top 100 Firm Blum, Shapiro & Co. PC announced that it has acquired Glastonbury, Conn.-based Scully & Wolf LLP.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A full-service accounting firm, Scully & Wolf is also the largest provider of municipal audit services in Connecticut, and has provided services to governmental, non-profit and commercial organizations for over 30 years.

Four Scully & Wolf partners, along with 26 staff members, will continue to serve the firm’s existing clients as well as new Blum Shapiro clients. Scully & Wolf partner Joseph Kask will lead Blum Shapiro's Governmental Services Group, which focuses on the needs of municipalities, government agencies and special districts.

The merger brings Blum Shapiro’s total staff to 210, operating out of offices in West Hartford and Southport, Conn.

Blum Shapiro was ranked No. 96 on Accounting Today's 2006 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $24.8 million. The firm is a member of Baker Tilly International.
