Deltek Buys Project Management Product Maker

Deltek has purchased Texas-based project management product maker and services provider Acumen Solutions with the intent of helping Deltek enhance its products’ planning capabilities.

The Acumen software suite consists Acumen Fuse, Acumen Risk, and Acumen 360.  Acumen Fuse was designed to help schedulers, project managers, and analysts diagnose and resolve shortcomings within the schedule using an advanced library of metrics. Acumen Risk is a cost/schedule risk analysis software, while Acumen 360 creates accelerated schedule scenarios designed to project completion goals or recover slips and delays incurred during execution.

“Acumen is a very successful company that offers innovative solutions unmatched in the marketplace,” said Deltek president and chief executive Mike Corkery.  “We share a common commitment to improve how our customers manage their projects, programs and overall business.  Adding Acumen to our portfolio makes our market-leading solutions even stronger and cements Deltek as the place to go for project managers that want to deliver exceptional projects.  This acquisition again demonstrates our commitment to continually expanding and enhancing our overall offering for our customers.”

Acumen has no direct ties to former Deltek partner Acumen Advisors, which split in April 2012 to form Full Sail Partners and Acuity Business Solutions. Also of note, Acumen Solutions chairman Steve Cook was the former president and chief executive of Welcom, which  Deltek purchased in 2006.
