Dixon Hughes Goodman COO Dies

Thomas Wilson, chief operating officer of the Charlotte, N.C.-based accounting firm, Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, died on June 19.

Wilson, 62, was a member of the firm for 40 years and he helped grow DHG into one of the largest CPA firms in the South.

A native of Virginia Beach, Wilson brought his business insight to the city, including serving as chairman of the Virginia Beach Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce and fund raising for VB Rescue 8 and the EVMS Foundation.

Wilson graduated with honors from University of Virginia, and continued to support education throughout his life, serving as chairman of the Tidewater Community College Board, treasurer of the Virginia Beach Library Foundation and president of the Virginia Beach Education Foundation and Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk.

Wilson is survived by his wife Rosemary and his two daughters Kari and Sarah, as well as his two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Virginia Beach Education Foundation, the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad and the Virginia Beach Aquarium.
