Doeren Mayhew adds Berman Hopkins

Doeren Mayhew acquired Berman Hopkins CPAs & Associates, growing the Top 50 Firm's presence in central Florida and continuing its expansion in the Southeast.

Berman Hopkins provides tax, assurance and transaction advisory services across the construction, health care, distribution, manufacturing and real estate industries. It also specializes in employee stock ownership plans, as well as governmental sectors, specifically audit, compliance, valuations and strategic advisory for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Berman Hopkins has offices in Orlando and Melbourne, Florida, and adds nearly 100 employees and nine principals to Doeren Mayhew's team.

Doeren Mayhew, based in Troy, Michigan, ranked No. 37 on Accounting Today's 2026 Top 100 Firms list. It reported $240 million in revenue, with nearly 170 principals and over 1,200 total employees.

In August 2024, the firm took a private equity investment from Audax Private Equity with a goal to grow its geographic footprint through continued acquisitions. Earlier this year, it acquired Dent Moses and its affiliate, Impact Technology Group, in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as advisory firm 1RDG in Rochester, New York. In 2025, it completed 13 deals, expanding into markets such as Nashville, Atlanta and Miami.

McDirmit will continue leading the central Florida offices as managing principal, while the remaining former partners will join the firm's leadership as principals.
