Document storage software developer eFileCabinet Inc. today released eFileCabinet Version 5.0, which contains in-demand features including document-level indexing, full-text search, document retention, document tracking, and workflow.

The addition of workflow is one of the key components of the new release. The company spent the past year designing the workflow feature and received considerable feedback from the CPA community in its making, according to Peterson.

The company conducted a survey last fall before it began building the feature, asking CPAs what their perception of workflow was and what they needed it to do. “We got a lot of answers, and many said they’d be interested in a workflow component, but it seemed complicated,” said Peterson.

The routing system in eFileCabinet can be simple or more detailed if users need it to be, he added.
