Epicor Offers New Web-based Service, Targets Vertical Markets

Irvine, Calif. (May 13, 2003) -- Midmarket business application provider Epicor Software Corp. has made available a new, Web-based framework that is customizable for numerous vertical markets.

Epicor Internet Component Environment, or ICE, incorporates the company’s current desktop product functions such as enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management, but for specific “service industry” verticals including financial services, hospitality, non-profit organizations, and wholesale distribution.

“We actually had something similar called e by Epicor, or eIndustry, but it didn’t resonate with our customers so we are effectively de-emphasizing that and pushing ICE for enterprise service automation,” said James Norwood, Epicor’s senior director of product marketing. “We already had a lot of customers in these particular verticals so we know we can meet the needs of these specific industries.”

ICE for financial services is already available, while the product will be rolled out for other verticals throughout the third quarter of this year, according to Norwood. He stressed that Epicor ICE users only need a Web browser and they can map their current business processes, automate execution, monitor performance and make “on-the-fly changes” for continuous improvement.

Some key Epicor ICE features include application-to-application connectivity within an organization, business process management, customization tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications, rapid application development and code generation environment for XML Web services, and Secure Socket Layer and Microsoft Windows security protocols.

Pricing for ICE will be approximately $900 per user. Epicor is targeting enterprises with an average of 500 to 1,500 employees and $25 million to $800 million in annual revenue.
