Ex-PCAOB Inspections Leader Joins MaloneBailey

Shane Garbutt, a former inspections leader of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, has joined MaloneBailey as an audit partner.

His primary role will be to service SEC clients of the firm and to reinforce our commitment to quality financial reporting and auditing.

Garbutt joined the PCAOB in 2006 and grew within the organization to become inspections leader in 2010. As required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the PCAOB oversees auditors of public companies. MaloneBailey delivers SEC audit services to small and mid-cap publicly traded clients, with over 130 registrants, the largest number of SEC clients audited by a non-national firm. As a result, MaloneBailey, alongside various global firms including the Big Four, is one of only 10 firms in the world that is inspected annually by the PCAOB.

“Shane brings an important perspective to the table, one that centers around regulation, audit quality, and public trust,” said MaloneBailey managing partner Wesley Middleton in a statement. “As a firm with a specialty niche SEC practice, these qualities are and will always be fundamental to operations at MaloneBailey. On behalf of our team, I welcome Shane to MaloneBailey and look forward to his continued success,”

Before his tenure at the PCAOB, Garbutt was a senior manager at PKF Texas in Houston and has more than seven years of combined experience at various Big Four firms. He is a member of the AICPA.
