The Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board is looking for a new leader to succeed its current executive director, Monica Valentine, who plans to retire at the end of this year after over 35 years at FASAB.
The Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board aims to improve federal financial reporting through issuing federal financial accounting standards and providing guidance after considering the needs of external and internal users of federal financial information.
The executive director is the principal advisor to the FASAB chair and board. FASAB said the position has a critical leadership function in the overall management of projects on FASAB's technical and research agendas, FASAB project-related communications, and interaction and engagement with stakeholders.
Reporting to the FASAB chair, the executive director leads and manages FASAB's staff members on all technical accounting projects and ensures detailed project plans, priorities and timetables are consistent with the board's goals and priorities. The executive director is also responsible for reviewing staff papers that support Board deliberations. In addition, the executive director represents FASAB as a spokesperson on technical issues at a variety of speaking engagements, serves as a primary liaison with key stakeholder groups, and develops the FASAB budget.
The executive director is responsible for the overall administration of FASAB. This includes managing budgets, purchasing, programs, and contracts; and furthering the development of guidance to improve the usefulness and effectiveness of federal financial reports. The executive director answers directly to the Board members.
