CALIFORNIA

Anton & Chia LLP, Newport Beach, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Zhonghui to create Zhonghui Anton, which will be used to run joint projects with Canadian and U.S. domestic companies. The joint venture also allows for the access for taking companies public on the Hong Kong Exchange and major stock exchanges in China. … Gilbert Associates Inc. has been ranked the top accounting firm on the Corporate Philanthropy - Direct Giving list in the Sacramento Business Journal, moving up three spots from 2013 to No. 13. The list is ranked by 2014 cash contributions to local charitable organizations. … As part of HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors’ community and philanthropic efforts, 26 management, staff and family members volunteered on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, to help the Orange County Rescue Mission, by preparing the day’s meals and assisting in organizing the canned food warehouse. HMWC also held an in-house food drive where firm personnel donated a substantial amount of the most needed canned and pantry items to help feed Orange County’s homeless. ...  Intacct, San Jose, has been named a silver winner in the Best Place to Work (medium-sized company) category in the Best in Biz Awards.

 

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Canahuate Calderon & Asociados has joined global accountancy network UHY. The firm was formed in 2009 and has a team of 20, including three partners, providing audit, tax consulting, accounting and pay-roll and services to a portfolio of local and international clients primarily in the retail & consumer, agricultural, pharmaceutical and insurance sectors. It will be known as UHY Canahuate Calderon & Asociados.

KENTUCKY

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance, Lexington, has launched the LEAP Advisory Council. LEAP, which stands for Lead Emerge Advance with Passion, was formed by AFWA to ensure emerging leaders have a voice within the national organization. The council is made up of five AFWA members under the age of 35, and will expand to 10 members in 2016. The inaugural members for 2015-2016 are: Anat Borodyansky, a tax manager at Huselton, Morgan & Maultsby PC; Chaille Brown, a staff accountant at 22squared; Corinne Dougherty, a senior manager at KPMG; Edronda Guiriba, a senior accountant at Boman Accounting Group Inc.; and Jessica Veal, a staff accountant at Warren and Tallent CPAs PLLC.

 

MARYLAND

KatzAbosch and Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn PA have been named 2015 Top Workplaces by The Baltimore Sun Media Group.

 

NEW YORK

CohnReznick LLP has completed the first phase of its move to its new headquarters location at 1301 Avenue of the Americas. The firm signed a long-term lease for more than 125,000 square feet occupying the seventh and tenth floors of the building earlier this year. The new location features state-of-the-art work spaces and collaborative meeting areas. Separately, the firm released its CohnReznick Middle Market Equity Capital Report, examining the state of the IPO market and its impact on middle-market businesses, which found that middle-market IPOs were down 38%, with 134 middle market IPOs issued from Jan. 1-Nov. 30, 2015, compared to 215 in the same time period last year.

 

OHIO

Skoda Minotti, Cleveland, has been named to the Weatherhead 100 for the second consecutive year. This is the eighth time that Skoda Minotti has been named to the Weatherhead 100, which recognizes Northeast Ohio’s fastest growing companies based on revenue from the past five years. … In just two weeks, CBIZ employees pulled together to collect a total of 1,026,139 pounds of food during the firm’s annual National Food Drive, marking the first time donations crossed the 1 million-pound milestone. All of the donations will be given to food pantries within CBIZ communities throughout the U.S. Offices that collected the most food will receive a corporate cash donation for a local food pantry of their choice, and employees will be rewarded with an extra half-day vacation, while second-place finishers will also receive a corporate cash donation to a local food pantry and will be awarded breakfast or lunch for the entire office. In the Large Office Category (56 or more employees) CBIZ Phoenix collected 90,103 pounds, while CBIZ Cleveland collected 63,083 pounds. In the Medium Office category (21-55 employees), CBIZ Tucson collected 37,293 pounds, while CBIZ M&S Consulting Services, Raleigh collected 29,025 pounds. In the Small Office Category (1-20 employees), CBIZ Sattler, in Lewiston, Idaho, collected 12,852.95 pounds, while CBIZ Oxnard collected 14,711 pounds.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

Two investment advisory subsidiaries wholly owned by Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP are rebranding under the RKL name effective Jan. 1, 2016: Kuntz Lesher Capital LLP, Lancaster, and Sterling Financial Advisors LLC, Reading, will be conducting business as RKL Wealth Management LLC. … Tax prep firm Citi Tax Refund, Pittsburgh, provided Christmas presents to over 600 local children this year. Families that registered with Citi Tax Refund were due to pick up their bundle of toys on December 12 at the firm's downtown Pittsburgh office.

 

TEXAS

McCarthy, Rose & Mills LLP is expanding in North Texas by merging in John F. White PC. White started his practice in 1975 in Plano, and serves a wide range of clients with tax, accounting, back-office and wealth management services. In addition, MRM is relocating to Frisco, Texas, with its new office slated to open in the first quarter of 2016.
