ALABAMA

Employees from Barfield Murphy Shank & Smith, Birmingham, and sister companies Abacus IT Solutions, Benefits Administration Services and Payroll & Benefit Solutions, recently joined together over eight weeks to donate over 600 hours to build the new Habitat for Humanity home. It was the fifth year in a row the firm has sponsored and built a Habitat for Humanity home. In addition, the firm recently hosted its fourth annual Credit Union Roundtable for employees and board members of credit unions. 

 

ARIZONA

Construction accounting firm Morrison & Associates CPAs, Chandler, received a 2010 Alfred P Sloane Award for Flexibility in the Workplace for the second year in a row.

 

CALIFORNIA

CONNECTICUT

Reynolds & Rowella LLP, Ridgefield, has joined Enterprise Worldwide.

 

FLORIDA

Six offices of RSM McGladrey and McGladrey & Pullen LLP, in Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Naples, Orlando and West Palm Beach, received 2010 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, while its office in Coral Gables received an Honorable Mention. Nationwide, the firms received awards for 53 of their offices, and four Honorable Mentions.

 

MARYLAND

Reznick Group has received a 2010 Baltimore Mayor's Business Recognition Award, in recognition of its community service. Among its charitable endeavors, for the past five years the firm has worked with the Women's Housing Coalition, collecting donations of unused toiletries, such as shampoos and soaps.

 

MICHIGAN

The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters has been named a Top Workplace in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press, ranking No. 17 in the Large Company Category.

 

NEW JERSEY

Smolin Lupin, Fairfield, will host "Green By Design: Understanding 179D Energy Tax Benefits" for architects from throughout the tri-state area at the Fort Hamilton Army Base Community House in Brooklyn, N.Y. on January 19.

 

NEW MEXICO

NEW YORK

Friedman LLP was once again named one of the Best Places to Work in New York City by Crain's New York Business. ... RAN One gave out a number of awards at its annual conference last fall: Paul Foster, of The Business Therapist in Essex, Ont., was named Advisor of the Year; Cleo Huang, of Dickson, Stojac, Brown in Richmond, B.C., received the Biggest Breakthrough Award; 14 members on the business advisory team at Squire & Co. OHIO

Jefferson Wells, Milwaukee, has launched the Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Center of Expertise. Michelle Search-Winters has been promoted to global director of the center. She will be based out of Denver.
