NEW YORK

Ernst & Young LLP, New York City, announced that it and its affiliates will offer tax offsets on same-sex domestic partner health and welfare benefits, reimbursing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees for the additional federal and state taxes they pay on same-sex domestic partners' medical benefits in the U.S., making it the first Big Four accounting firm to offer this perk.

 

PENNSYLVANIA

In December 2011, the professionals and staff of Citrin Cooperman supported Philadelphia-area organizations Philabundance, Toys for Tots and One Warm Coat: More than 25 staff members filled close to 700 boxes of food at Philabundance's Hunger Relief Center, while the firm's Philadelphia office also raised $2,000 for the nonprofit. The firm's five offices also donated more than 650 toys, 300 coats and $6,600 to their local Toys for Tots and One Warm Coat chapters. ... WASHINGTON

Moss Adams LLP, Seattle, has launched a set of free online whiteboard-based video tutorials to help small to midsized business owners learn the basics of certain tax and accounting issues. The tutorials are available on its Web site and its YouTube channel.
