Firms Based in Oregon, Ohio Announce Mergers

Oregon’s Aldrich Kilbride & Tatone LLC has increased its staff 50 percent by merging with a San Diego firm. In a separate deal, Cleveland’s SS&G Financial Services Inc. announced that it has acquired an Ohio neighbor.Financial terms of both mergers were not disclosed.

Founding more than 50 years ago, Grice Lund & Tarkington LLP announced that it would merge into Salem, Ore.-based Aldrich Kilbride & Tatone as of Jan. 8. The two companies will operate under the AKT name, bringing the combined firm’s ranks to more than 200 employees operating out of six offices.

According to the firm’s Web site, Grice Lund & Tarkington employed a team of over 50 professionals with additional California offices in Encinitas, Carlsbad and Escondido. Besides traditional services, the firm also offered niche services to the health care, nonprofit, real estate, manufacturing and agriculture industries. Aldrich Kilbride & Tatone has a second Oregon office, located just outside Portland, where its nearly 90 professionals have provided services to more than 1,000 individual clients and over 1,000 companies.

Separately, SS&G announced that it has created a presence on the west side of Cleveland as of Jan. 1 with the acquisition of Carey & Co. CPAs. The new office will be located in Westlake, Ohio, and two CPAs -- John T. Carey, and Vicki S. Bernardi -- will join SS&G’s ranks. Carey & Co. brings closely held business clients in the general tax and accounting sector, as well as medical practices.

SS&G has four offices throughout Ohio and employs more than 350 professionals, after a January 2006 deal upped its own ranks by 50 percent. The firm ranked No. 63 on Accounting Today's 2006 list of Top 100 Firms, with revenues of $34.3 million.
