Firms in South Florida Combine

Two South Florida-based accounting firms have merged their operations.

Miami-based Binstock, Rubin, Ellzey & Co. PA will combine with Coral Gables, Fla.-based Berman, Swichkow, Farbish, Adler & Aldecoa PA -- forming Binstock, Rubin, Adler, Aldecoa & Ellzey, for those still able to keep track of all those last names.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The combined firm will operate out of the former Binstock Rubin office in Miami. While the former Berman Swichkow office, which has been located just 10 minutes outside of Miami, will close, the firm will open a new Key West location.

Binstock had three principals and three staff accountants listed on its former Web site, while Berman Swichkow had five partners and an additional seven staff members listed on its site. According to published reports, David Berman and Bernard Swichkow, founding members of their firm, which was itself the result of a merger, will remain with the new entity.

The boutique firm will reportedly concentrate on providing individualized service in the tax planning, estate planning, business valuation and audit arenas.
