Action is needed soon to keep multiemployer pension plans from sliding into insolvency, according to a new government report.
The report, released Monday by the Government Accountability Office, acknowledged that the most severely distressed multiemployer plans have taken significant steps to address their funding problems. While most plans expected improved financial health, some did not.
