Grant Thornton Creates Financial Services Group

Accounting firm Grant Thornton has launched a Financial Services Group in the United Kingdom that combines its old Financial Markets Group with the financial services practice it acquired from its merger with RSM Robson Rhodes in the U.K.

The group will be headquartered at Grant Thornton's Finsbury Square office in London under the leadership of partner Ian Gorham. It includes 13 partners and an additional 150 employees. The old Grant Thornton group contributed nine partners and 73 staff, while the RSM Robson Rhodes group had four partners and 77 staff, according to spokesperson Dee Crooks.

The group includes practitioners who provide accounting, actuarial, audit, tax and advisory services. They specialize in the banking, fund management, insurance, investment and life insurance industries, and also have a large presence in the pensions, private equity and hedge fund sectors. Other services include fraud investigation, corporate finance, pensions, risk management and restructuring.

The addition of the staff from RSM Robson Rhodes adds investment management and fund management services to the group.
