H&R Block CFO Resigns

H&R Block CFO William L. Trubeck has stepped down, the company announced.

The tax prep chain named senior vice president and treasurer, Becky S. Shulman, as acting CFO. Trubeck's resignation is effective immediately, but he is available to consult with the company through December to aid in the transition.

"I'm proud of all that we've accomplished through a very challenging time," said Trubeck in a statement.

The company's Option One Mortgage Corp. unit has been facing challenges in the subprime mortgage market. Shares of Block fell $0.65 to close at $19.94 in trading Monday.
