CALVERT GIVING FUND DIVESTS DARFUR INTERESTSIn a break with donor-advised funds sponsored by other national financial services firms, the Calvert Foundation said that its Calvert Giving Fund is now fully divested from companies affiliated with the Sudanese government. The Calvert Giving Fund is administered by the Calvert Foundation.

“In time for the 2007 giving season, the Calvert Foundation is very pleased to announce that our investment platform does not support companies contributing revenue or capabilities to the government responsible for the humanitarian crisis in Darfur,” said Timothy Freundlich, the foundation’s director of strategic initiatives. Freundlich conceived and launched the Calvert Giving Fund in 2001.

CFP BOARD NAMES EXAM DIRECTOR

The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc., the regulatory body for the CFP credential, named Carol Lee Roberts, CFP, as managing director of examinations and education.

Roberts, who spent 16 years at Merrill Lynch, has served for the past six years at DePaul University, where she has acted as program manager of its Financial Planning Certificate program and a director of DePaul’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education.

The CFP Board is in the midst of shifting its operations to Washington, D.C., from Denver.
