COUGAR MTN. NAMES NEW PREZ/CEOCougar Mountain Software has appointed Chuck Gossett as the accounting software company's new president and chief executive, succeeding his father, Bob Gossett, who is retiring from the company he founded in 1982 but will remain chairman of the board. His son Chuck has been a full-time employee since 2006 and has served on the family-owned company's board of directors for many years. He has also been a local business owner for over three decades and will retain a passive interest in one of his businesses, Gossett and Davis Appraisal Services.

AVALARA LAUNCHES SALT BLOG

Avalara, a Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based provider of sales tax automation solutions, has launched Sales Tax Buzz, a blog dedicated to information on sales and use taxes. Located at www.salestaxbuzz.org, the site is written by Althea Azeff, an Avalara employee who handles investor relations, media relations and its national accountant's network, and is funded by the company.

CCH NAMES SALES TAX TEAM

The CCH sales tax group has named a five-person channel sales team, responsible for selling the company's CorpSystem tax products to companies that use Microsoft and Sage financial software. The team is led by national strategic alliance manager Michael Silmont.

COPANION NAMES CFO

Workflow software concern Copanion has named Stephen Royal as the company's chief financial officer. Previously, Royal served as senior vice president and CFO of OatSystems, recently acquired by Checkpoint Systems. Prior to that he served as CFO for CXO Systems, which makes operational intelligence software.
