Financial educator The American College has unveiled a proprietary online video portal, TheWealthChannel.com, that features breaking news, public policy and financial events, and free streaming video, as well as articles from practitioners and financial services faculty, audio downloads, and Webcasts.

INVESTORS STAYING THE COURSE

The Retirement Division of financial services and insurance carrier MassMutual has released data indicating that participants in its retirement plans are "staying the course" despite the difficult economic and financial climate. The survey said that participants have not stopped contributing to their 401(k) plans - in fact, it noted that in general participation rates continue to rise, most likely, they point out, because of growing adoption of automatic enrollment.

RIAS DIVIDED ON RECOVERY

Independent investment advisors are divided on the long-term prospects for the economy and its impact on client portfolios, according to the latest Charles Schwab study of registered investment advisors. Some 44 percent expect the current recession to end in 2009, while 41 percent believe that the recession will extend into 2010. Eighty-four percent of those surveyed say that achieving investment goals in the current environment is difficult. Some 55 percent say that portfolios will take as long as three years to recover, and 35 percent believe that it will take between three and five years to recoup losses.
