Intuit debuts AI agents for QuickBooks

Intuit Campus

Intuit has created a team of artificial intelligence-powered agents for QuickBooks to help businesses and their accountants with tasks such as reconciling a business's books, tracking payments, sending invoices, managing customer leads, reminding customers about overdue bills, and offering ways to help them make payments.

The company demonstrated the products at an event in New York this week. The AI agents will also work alongside human experts at Intuit to give businesses extra support.

"Intuit's AI-driven expert platform is transforming how businesses run and grow with first-of-its-kind agentic AI experiences," said Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi in a statement. "When our vast amounts of data and AI capabilities are combined with the power of trusted human experts, Intuit's uniquely designed, integrated platform unlocks next-level efficiencies, profitability and growth for businesses."

The new AI agents have been incorporated into a redesigned, personalized QuickBooks web layout. The homepage displays a set of customizable widgets with a business feed showing insights, recommendations, and summaries of the workflows and tasks completed by the AI agents. The QuickBooks mobile app interface has also been redesigned to deliver the AI agents on the go. The AI agents include:

  • Accounting Agent: Automates bookkeeping and transaction categorization, and helps with reconciliation of the books.
  • Payments Agent: Improves cash flow by helping businesses get paid an average of five days faster by predicting late payments, automating invoice tracking, and creating and sending invoices and reminders.
  • Finance Agent: Helps with financial management of growing, mid-market businesses through reporting, KPI analysis, scenario planning and forecasting based on performance and peer benchmarking.

The Customer Hub, which will be included in most QuickBooks Online plans, will include two new virtual agents to automate the sales and customer relationship management process, managing new leads and existing customers in one place:

  • Customer Agent: Collects leads, drafts personalized email responses, suggests and schedules meetings based on engagement data, and tracks each customer opportunity in the sales cycle.
  • Marketing Agent: Available later this year, it will automate audience management, campaign execution and content creation to deliver acquisition and retention marketing campaigns via Intuit's Mailchimp product.

In the months ahead, Intuit plans to debut more AI agents for larger growing businesses to tackle more complex tasks:

  • Payroll Agent: Proactively collects time and attendance data from employees and runs payroll when needed.
  • Project Management Agent: Manages project quotes, milestones and budgets to keep businesses on track with their projects.

The new web and mobile interfaces, integrated AI agents and human experts, and Customer Hub will start rolling out July 1 to a variety of QuickBooks Online products and customers in the U.S.
