Intuit Releases Enterprise Edition of QuickBooks

Mountain View, Calif. (June 24, 2002) -- Intuit Inc. on June 19 began shipping the long-awaited Enterprise edition of its QuickBooks accounting software line.

The new product is designed for businesses with up to 250 employees, which compares to the traditional QuickBooks customer base, composed primarily of businesses with less than 20 employees. Intuit, which divulged plans for Enterprise late last year, said that it also features greater capacity, improved performance, enhanced reporting, the ability to support up to ten simultaneous users, and new employee records management capabilities.

"Small business customers who have waited for a 'turbo charged' business solution that's still easy-to-use, now have the answer," said Dan Levin, vice president of QuickBooks Financial Solutions. However the product is priced considerably higher than earlier QuickBooks ediitons: $3,500 for a ten-user license and support, according to earlier reports from Intuit.

Intuit expects the new product to stem the loss of customers outgrowing the functionality in the original QuickBooks products. With some 3 million users, QuickBooks is by far the most popular accounting software on the market.
