Intuit Signs Integration Deal with Amex Open

Intuit has formed a deal with American Express Open, the small business payment card issuer division of Amex, whereby small businesses using the Open cards can have data from receipts integrated into QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online accounts.

Users of the Open card can access ReceiptMatch, a mobile app that will allow them to take a snap shot of receipts, which will now feature an integrated QuickBooks tag. The data can then flow into the program. The integration with QuickBooks online is instant, while the desktop product will require users to initiate the sync process.

“We are constantly talking to small businesses about how they use our card, they are running their business on it and trying to grow. The majority of them do use QuickBooks as their accounting solution so it was the natural first choice for a partnership like this,” said Manish Gupta, executive vice president, Open products at Amex. “When we spoke to our small business users and asked them about their pain points it was managing receipts and reconciliation in particular. I think this will dramatically reduce the pain in the process.”

Gupta also stressed that the Amex Open group is focused on helping small businesses put all of their funding needs the card, and partnership itself focused on expense management and reconciliation.

In April, Amex Open launched ReceiptMatch, a mobile app that matches images of receipts to transactions on online credit card statements.

“ReceiptMatch with QuickBooks is an example of Intuit's 'no data entry' vision so small business owners can spend more time focusing on running their businesses,” said senior vice president and general manager, Intuit small business financial solutions, Dan Wernikoff. “This is a natural partnership that brings together two companies with a strong track record of delivering innovative products for small businesses.”
