IRS Files $1.2 Million Tax Lien against Beyoncé’s Father

The Internal Revenue Service has filed a tax lien for over $1.2 million against the father of singer Beyoncé Knowles, who formerly managed the Grammy-winning singer.

The IRS filed a tax lien against Matthew Knowles for $485,575.95 in unpaid taxes from 2010 and $728,004.89 from 2011, according to TMZ. Knowles, 61, managed his daughter’s career during both of those years, although she hired a new manager in 2011.

Beyoncé is one of the highest-grossing singers and performed at the Super Bowl earlier this year, in a reunion with her original group, Destiny’s Child, which her father also managed. He is also a music executive who founded the entertainment conglomerate Music World Entertainment in 1992, whose record labels featured music by Beyoncé and another of his daughters, Solange Knowles.

He also executive produced the 2009 movie “Obsessed,” which starred Beyoncé, and two reality TV series, “Chancers” and “Breaking from Above.”
