Johnson Honored by AICPA

Oklahoma City CPA Carlos E. Johnson recently received the American Institute of CPAs' Special Recognition Award, which is given to individuals who contribute to the success of a particular professional initiative.

A member of the institute's Governing Council for the past six years, Johnson is also currently chair of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy's Committee on the Uniform Accountancy Act, and has served as chair of the AICPA's Uniform Accountancy Act.

"Carlos has been a key player in the accounting profession for many years in the state and federal legislative and regulatory arenas," said AICPA chairman Paul Stahlin. "This recognition of his leadership from his CPA peers on the AICPA Awards Committee is well-deserved. He has been a visionary and leading practitioner in our legislative efforts on the state and national level."

Johnson has served two five-year terms on the Oklahoma Board of Accountancy, and has held all of the leadership positions of the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, where he worked with five governors and legislative leaders to appoint a member of the OSCPA to each major state board and commission. He was also a member of the original AICPA 150 Hour Committee.
