Kansas Society of CPAs names 2018 'Women to Watch'

The Kansas Society of CPAs, in partnership with the American Institute of CPAs, has announced its 2018 Women to Watch. The award ceremony was recently held at the KC Wine Co. in Olathe, hosting family, friends, and colleagues of the nominees.

Five finalists were chosen in all: Trina Swart Harmon; Amanda Huffman; Susan Day; Angela Malley; and Amanda Walker. Of these five, one Emerging Leader and one Experienced Leader were selected. Women to Watch are chosen based on their professional accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, and dedication to community service.

Former Women to Watch honoree Amber Goering, a shareholder at Goering and Granatino in Overland Park, was also on hand to give a speech on the vital role of female leaders in the accounting profession before selecting the winners.

The 2018 KSCPA Women to Watch are as follows:

Experienced Leader:

  • Susan Day, principal, Adams, Brown, Beran & Ball - WaKeeney

Emerging Leader:

  • Trina Swart Harmon, shareholder, Sabala, Harmon & Case - Wichita

"Congratulations to our nominees and winners - you shine in the accounting profession and we are proud to have the honor of showcasing your accomplishments and contributions to the Society, others around you, and the accounting profession," the Society wrote in a statement.
