Leonard D. Weitz, CPA, 63, managing partner of Mann Weitz & Associates in Deerfield, Ill., died Monday.
He had been battling cancer. The firm said it will be able to continue with no interruptions in service so there will be no effect on clients, aside from “the loss of a charismatic leader at the firm.” He is survived by three children, two grandchildren and his wife Lynn of 43 years.
Koltin Consulting Group CEO Allan D. Koltin, who was Weitz’s former partner, commented, “Lenny had an insatiable passion for helping clients with their business and personal needs. He created a Top 30 CPA firm in Chicago, and his clients and associates adored him. His zest for life came across the second you met him. He will truly be missed.”
Mann Weitz & Associates was named as one of the Best Accounting Firms to Work For in 2009 by Accounting Today.
“Fifteen years ago, our vision was to create a firm that would be large enough to provide clients with leading edge solutions but small enough to offer personalized attention and service to our specialized client base,”
Weitz said at the time.
