Lyquidity Offers Spreadsheet Monitoring Software

Lyquidity Solutions has introduced the Spreadsheet Usage Monitor, a free tool that organizations can use to control and manage their corporate spreadsheets.

The software shows where spreadsheets are stored and how often they are being changed. Based on the Spreadsheet Discovery module of Lyquidity’s ComplyXL Enterprise suite, the utility can be configured to track when spreadsheets are used across any number of network servers.

The Spreadsheet Usage Monitor utility builds a profile of spreadsheet use by asking file servers to let it know when files are accessed or saved so only information about files that are really used is ever recorded. Managers and auditors can then see how and where controls need to be put in place, which is where ComplyXL comes in.

Managers and auditors can use the tool to profile spreadsheets and their use. They can report on file locations, names, the actions taken by users (such as file open, save and close), and the date a file was created or modified. Users can specify which folders are monitored, with any number of folders or subfolders included. The tool can be configured to run on a desktop or continuously as a Windows service. Different file extensions can be monitored such as .xls, .xlsx or .xlsm.

The Spreadsheet Usage Monitor is available at www.lyquidity.com/usemonitor.
