Macias Gini Acquires Moreland

California accounting firm Macias Gini & O'Connell has acquired Moreland & Associates, expanding its Sacramento base to Newport Beach and San Marcos.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. MGO posted $20 million in revenue last year, while Moreland made $5.2 million for the year. Moreland specializes in providing public accounting, consulting, temporary personnel and training services to California government agencies and nonprofit organizations. The 30-year-old firm has more than 60 employees.

MGO partner Denise Callahan will lead and expand the firm's personnel services practice with the acquisition while continuing her leadership of Macias Consulting Group.

"Moreland's longstanding service to governments and its reputation for quality are a great fit for our organization," said MGO managing partner Kevin O'Connell in a statement. He added that the acquisition would support the firm's corporate services expansion strategy and better position it to service its existing clients in Orange and San Diego counties.
